You can travel around the world without leaving Omaha when you visit the Wildlife Safari at Exit 426 off I-80. While on your safari ride, you'll get a chance to see elk, pronghorn antelope, bison, cranes and wolves as well as other North American native wildlife. Your travels during the safari will take you through the majestic woodland, tranquil wetlands and rolling prairies where the wildlife can be seen roaming freely in their areas. Don't stop after your safari ride, but instead, stop by the Wolf Canyon Overlook.
The overlook is a new walkway that spans 30 feet into the display so that visitors can look down on the pack as they play among the wooded hills of Wolf Canyon. Continue your wildlife safari on foot as you walk through the Sacred Hoop Garden and enjoy the wild flowers. After you've enjoyed the wild flowers, stroll to the aviary where you can enjoy watching fox, bobcats, bald eagles, porcupine and many more species of North American wildlife. Don't forget to stop by the Visitor Center to enjoy a snack and pick up your souvenir of the Wildlife Safari.
Make the Soaring Wings Vineyard your next stop in Omaha. This is a family run operation offering guests five wine samples and a souvenir wine glass for a small fee. Pick up a bottle of wine for later, and shop for your favorite cheese, crackers, sausage or bread.
If you enjoy fine art, the Joslyn Art Museum has just what you're looking for. The art museum includes 19th and the 20th century art from Europe and America. Visitors will enjoy free parking and plenty of public galleries to tour. After spending time at the Joslyn Art Museum, you may find the Ford Birth site and Gardens an interesting place to stop by and tour. The gardens are next to the Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center in honor of the 38th President of the United States. Although the actual birthplace of President Ford was lost to a fire in 1971, the rose gardens were developed at the site in honor of former First Lady Betty Ford. This site commemorates Gerald R. Ford, Jr., who prior to being adopted, was know as Leslie King, Jr.
A great adventure awaits visitors to Omaha at the Aksarben Aquarium. The Aquarium has one of the most unusual viewing areas for visitors. Visitors will see over 30 different species of fish, and approximately 20 different species of reptiles and amphibians at the Aquarium.
