Adventures in Juneau
Everyone entering the city of Juneau can find an adventure to suit his or her preferences. If you want to see wildlife, you've come to the right place. Juneau offers many opportunities to view whales, eagles and brown bear, while some tours give you the up close and personal view of seals, sea lions, mountain goats, black bear and the Dall porpoise.

Hiking trails are in abundance in Juneau with over 100 miles of groomed trails, some of which take hikers through the temperate rain forest. Get a great view of Juneau by taking tours by helicopters or small planes where you'll see glaciers from a different view. The Glacier Gardens Rain forest Adventure is a guided tour on shuttles that offer breathtaking scenic views of wildlife and gardens.
The Last Chance Mining Museum and Historic Park gives visitors a unique experience of the Gold Rush. Through a 3-D glass map, visit the historic mining buildings in a wilderness setting. Also at this Juneau attraction are underground exhibits, new and used antiques and a gift shop to explore. Juneau is home of the Douglas City Museum which will give visitors plenty to explore during an afternoon. With over 6,000 fine arts and historical objects as well as exhibits, visitors can learn about the Juneau history, gold mining, culture and other interesting facts that make Juneau attractive. Two authentic totem poles stand outside the museum in a park. A gift shop is also within the museum for guests to purchase memorabilia of their trip to Juneau.
The Alaskan Brewing Company is among one of the attractions for visitors to Juneau. This brewing company was the only one in Alaska in 1986, and is known nation wide for it's great tasting beer. Not only will visitors receive free samples of the award-winning beers from the brewing company, but they will also learn about the brewing and bottling process. Take an evening and enjoy the Perseverance Theatre where a variety of contemporary and classical productions are performed. This theatre was recognized in 2002 for being among the top seven leading national theater companies.
Take a walk down the street of downtown Juneau, or head over to the Mendenhall Valley shopping district, where you'll find gifts that are unique to Alaska, it's culture and heritage. You can find jewelry designed for the Native Alaskan cultures and totemic designs on bracelets. Sculptures and carved totem poles that tell stories of the people native to Alaska are also among the collection of artwork you'll find while shopping.
There isn't a place you can find in Juneau that doesn't offer some sort of scenic view. The Timberline Bar and Grill is located on top of Mt. Roberts at the Tram Mountain Station. Enjoy a meal, scenery and shopping opportunities at the top of Mt. Roberts. Spend a day and view the native culture and arts or just take a quiet walk along the nature trails. Tram tickets offer unlimited rides all day.
