Ashland is a city in Boyd County. The community is in the Eastern Standard time zone.
The estimated population, in 2003, was 21,491. Ashland is on the Ohio River. The community was named after the estate of Henry Clay in Lexington, KY. The Ashland charter bus group members will be glad to know the history of this place. The Kentucky Iron, Coal and Mfg Company developed it. Later, they became known for the Ashland Oil Refinery.

Hunter park is approximately 10 acres in area.. Hunter Park is located on Holmes Avenue between Walker and Normal Streets. The park has eight tennis courts, ball fields, a playground, picnic areas, restrooms and the Daniel Meyer Swimming Pool. The Ashland charter bus group members may visit this place for some outdoor activity of their choice. The Daniel Meyer Swimming Pool is outdoors and is only open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.
Garfield Park is another famous park. It is approximately 3 acres in area. Garfield Park is located on the corner of East Main and Garfield Streets. The park offers a playground, basketball court, restrooms, sandpit volleyball courts and the city's only "Zero-Depth Waterplay Facility.
Railroad Park is another unique stop in the Ashland charter bus group itinerary. The spread of this park is approximately one and three quarter acres. It is located on "A" Street between 6th and 8th Streets. The park opened late fall of 1994 with a picnic shelter, restrooms, playground, half-court basketball, wetlands area and bike path. The design of this park follows the historic look of the old railroad era.
